A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but this book could not be art without a little help! This book sculpture is made from a beautiful gardener’s reference book called Place That Plant.
Sitting on the shelf at the thrift store, the color photos were begging to become the petals of a flower. Each page has been cut so that the rose petals could be pulled up through the middle of the book. They were not cut out and then glued back on–they are all still intact!
As always, most of the work was done before I knew that the concept was going to succeed. In this case, I was so pleased that it came out just as I had hoped!
The book has been glued together and has a wire through it so that hangs on the wall, just like any other painting. It could be placed on an easel or plate stand as well.
