We all have them. What’s yours? What's your love/hate relationship?

I’m in one right now with Facebook. I administer pages for both The Artists Gallery and my own art enterprise. And Oh My! is this sucking away both my time and my spirit! And for what? A few likes and comments here and there.

I spent the better part of the day yesterday planning “social media strategy” and scheduling posts for both FB pages. Sometimes this feels like a full-time job with little return. (That’s the “hate” part.) By yesterday evening I was ready to shut down FB and never go back.

Enter GRATITUDE.

I’ve tried to adopt gratitude as a mental habit.  In the midst of frustration, to look for something—anything—to be grateful for in the situation. So I did this yesterday. (Welcome to the “love” part.)

This is why I LOVE Facebook: it’s free. It allows me to connect with people that I would have no other way of reaching. It has let me rekindle friendships from childhood, HS and college. (Just last night, an hour on the phone with a college sorority sister I haven’t spoken to in 25 years!) It’s easy (relatively). It’s fun (seeing everyone’s photos, news and quips). Oh, and did I mention it’s free?

When we are in the midst of the Hate part of the relationship, it’s really hard to see the Love.

That’s why gratitude is such a powerful tool. As long as we can remember to use it!

Love/Hate relationships.  We all have them.  What’s yours?
