This just in: Today is National Handwriting DayThe (almost) Blank Journal

Anyone who reads my blog knows that I’m a big fan of the benefits of taking time to write with pen and paper.

Fom the article in today’s Virginian Pilot:

“Handwriting. Hand Writing. Requires no electricity yet is full of power. Personal. Individual. Expressive. Slow!
There’s something important going on here. the reminder of mindfulness. To put, deliberately, pen to paper. To reject the mandate to rush, always rush. To assert: This time is mine. To assert the right to fee something other than frantic. To feel pen meeting paper. The pleasure of the line appearing. The connection with another, a reader who sees not merely words, but also how those words are expressed–Bold. Tentative. To show the reader that you cared enough about her to spend the time. Maybe the reader is you, reading back over your own journal.”

When is the last time you wrote something by hand?
