If you are at all like me, taking a shower can be risky business when it comes to peace of mind. Why? Because the daily shower always seems to bring a rush of too many really good ideas, and there’s never enough time to execute them!

I get in the shower and before I know it, bam: ideas! Ideas for new classes, for new places to sell paintings, for, well, you name it. Just a ton of ideas. Way too many to ever actually follow through on!

flood of ideas on notepadI’m not going to stop showering—instead, I keep a notepad in the bathroom drawer and quickly write down all the new inspirations.  Then I call on intuition to work on them.  I tuck all these notes away and then later bring them out and sift through them.  Some are keepers, but not all.

There is a very specific brain process that goes on during an “incubator activity.” That mechanism goes to work in all kinds of situations, such as driving or exercising.  The key is to recognize your own “incubator activities” and then have a strategy for capturing those fresh, freely flowing ideas.

What is your “incubator activity?” And how do you capture all your good ideas to work through later?

PS:  The most of the wording for this blog post came to me while I was in the shower!
