My daily journal is on the left and my business journal on the right.

My daily journal is on the left and my business journal on the right.

Today I’m sharing some wise words from my friend and business coach, Theresa Ceniccola.  Why?  Because her advice was a real “sleep-saver” for me last week.  Those of you who have been with me a while know that I do keep a journal.   Daily.   I also have a “business journal” for all things related to my vision of bringing art to others.

Last Wed., I was awake from 2-4 am while “junk” was swarming through my head.  One of the business journaling activities Theresa advocates is a Brain Dump.  You essentially write down everything that is on your plate, on your mind, on your to-do-list, etc.  Just dump it onto paper.

My brain dump!

A recent brain dump!

Oh my gosh, what a wave of relief after doing that.  None of the issues went away, but they occupied much less space in my ever so limited brain!  HUGE.  I slept like a baby Thursday night!

Here is what Theresa has to say, and you can click through to read more on her website.  But not until you leave a comment here about how writing (pen and paper, people) benefits you!

One of my favorite business tools is my journal. I admit to being lost without my smart phone, Evernote app and online calendar, but nothing beats pen and paper when it comes to building clarity and staying focused in my business. In fact, no matter how addicted I am to the digital world, I don’t actually make progress on my “big picture” goals until I’ve explored them in my journal. – See more here.

Happy writing!  Do a brain dump and then tell me how it feels to release “all that junk!”
