Mother Earth exists in a fragile state as her foliage and is being consumed by the rising seas. The very paper from which the book is carved looks capable and strong yet is delicate and crumbles easily under the slightest assault. The book is the Earth volume of a 1940 copy from the New Human Interest Library (predecessor to the encyclopedia, I believe).
