This artwork was made with the novel, The Dictionary of Lost Words. This novel explores the influence of white male perspective on what words were (and were not) included in the first Oxford Dictionary.
In a similar fashion, I removed more than 25oo words from the book–those that were spoken by or described people (especially women) in service, tradespeople and the names of women characters when the rules of society worked against them. These words are displayed under glass, like the remnants of an endangered species.
