Last week I blogged about the lyrics to a song called “The Only Star in Heaven” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. As Andy Rooney would say, here’s “the rest of the story.”
The song came on during a run with the lyrics: “Gotta change the channel to make a change, Gotta change the channel to break away.” I was so inspired by the implications of those simple words.
Once home, I searched right away for the lyrics. Imagine my surprise to discover I had the words wrong! It’s not “change the channel;” it’s “shake your tail.” And “make a wave” instead of “make a change.” Well, that certainly was disappointing.
Thankfully, reality doesn’t always have to interfere with inspiration. I like my version better, and I sing it to myself regardless of what Frankie’s singing. The words can still push me through a limiting mindset and into action, which is awesome! I highly recommend creating your own lyrics.
