This crazy dog of ours is an all-or-nothing kind of girl. When we play fetch, she goes after it 100%. Then when it’s time to rest, she goes after that 100% too.
When Nutmeg is laid out like this on the floor, I can practically torment her and she’ll just lie there and take it. We can drape a towel on her, play with her paws, and clean her ears, and she just lies there. Every now and then she’ll emit a HUGE sigh.
She is my inspiration—work hard, play hard, and then rest well. We can sometimes get so focused on a goal, or even get so caught up in the minor things on the to-do list, that we forget to commit to our relaxation too.
The moments we spend in “the space between” our focused efforts are important and need to be honored. So consider this permission to take a break, and make it a good one. Go for it, 100%!
