Last week’s post was about engaging in activities that promote creativity, specifically coloring, like we used to do as kids.
Let’s be clear about what I mean with the word CREATIVE. I’m not talking about the ability to produce a piece of art. I’m talking about the ability to generate new ideas, new ways to solve problems.
For example, here’s a CREATIVE solution to a trash problem at a bowling alley:
This is how Webster defines creativity: the ability to make new things or think of new ideas
Webster doesn’t say anything about knowing how to use watercolors or how to sculpt clay. So yes, while I LOVE art, I also recognize that it’s not the “thing” for everyone. But a creative mind is! Every one of us benefits from nurturing our creative mind.
Pick a situation or task that you are going to face next week. Set an intention to address it in a CREATIVE way. Make an “appointment” on your calendar for Monday to write 5 approaches to the problem. Be very deliberate about this. Then let your brain fester on it in the background while you go about your weekend. I can’t wait to hear about your results!
What problem will you tackle?
