For three years (yes, three years!), I’ve “wanted to,” “meant to,” and thought I “ought to” send out a weekly newsletter about creativity and art. And for three years (ugh!), I’ve thought about it, started, stopped, put it off, busied myself with other things, and have just not gotten it done. Ever done that? (Hopefully not for three full years!)
Surely you can relate to what was holding me back. Pure and simple—fear:
- Of running out of ideas
- Of not being a good writer
- Of the time commitment
- Of being inconsistent
- Of making a fool out of myself
- Of being too trivial
So after having put this out to the universe for so long and being afraid of the answer, I have given in to the nudges that were coming at me from all angles. I’ve taken the leap. And I know that the net will appear.
What is my net? It’s the fact that the time will appear because this is important. The ideas will come because, well frankly, they always do. And the most important net of all, that what I put my focus on grows.
What’s on your “Ought-To-Mean-To-Want-To” List? And what is holding you back? But most importantly, what are you doing about it, starting right now? Tell me so we can give each other all the encouragement and the gentle pushes that we need.
