This artwork, made from The Wizard of Oz, invites viewers to contemplate the ideas of perception, illusion, and self-awareness. The curtain invites viewers to peer through, only to be confronted with their own reflection in the mirror behind it. We are encouraged to confront our own role in the illusions we create, whether about identity, reality, or how we present ourselves to the world. This is often a tremendous challenge for artists, who often feel imposter syndrome, waiting for Toto to come pull back the curtain and expose us.
