Using the novel, Black and Blue, this artwork evokes the emotions and reality of a survivor of domestic abuse.  On the surface there is beauty and calmness created by the variations of hue.  Upon closer examination, the viewer sees the frayed fabric, the odd-shaped circles and the imperfect painting.  The outer impressions of strength and courage give way to the delicate nature of existence.

This is an ode to survivors.  Being emancipated from the abuser does not necessarily equate to liberation.
