Ephemeral Ice serves as a testament to the profound impact of human activity on our environment. Using paper scraps from a World Book Encyclopedia, I am using an endangered book to call attention to endangered aspects of our world.
I had lived in Iceland in 1995-1996 and spent quite a lot of time exploring the country’s interior, especially the many glaciers. On a visit back to Iceland in 2018, I was struck by how much the glaciers had receded in all areas of the country. In 22 years, the effect of climate change was dramatic and heartbreaking.
