This paper-cast typewriter (yes, it’s all paper) was created as a nod to authors who use typewriters in their creative process. Only a handful of such authors still exist. I chose a book by Tom Wolfe who was famously known for typing out his manuscripts rather than using a computer. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after I finished the artwork. In the process of creating this, I also learned that Tom Hanks has a “thing” for manual typewriters. He funded an app for computers that simulates the sound and pressure of typewriter keys.
Chains of “infinity links” (moebius strips) cascade out of the typewriter, reminding us of the power of limitless imagination.
